1740 the commercial manufacture of paint began, leaving artists' more time
to concentrate on their work and beginning a process of standardization
for artists' color which has been warmly embraced by some and vigorously
opposed by others.
No amount of industrial standardization can approach the level of quality
which an adept craftsperson achieves.. colors created slowly, filled by
hand and carefully inspected for flaws at every stage. The result is noticeably
brighter, more intense, stronger and easier to use color than standard commercial
offerings.
